It's a girl!!!!

We had a 3D ultrasound done on Dec. 27th and were told we have a baby girl. She checked 4 or 5 times and everytime it came out a girl! We are so excited to add a little girl to our family and all the new adventures she is going to bring into our world!! God creation is awesome and technology is amazing. The one pic she is giving a thumbs up and the other she is already telling her brothers to "Shhhhhhhhhhhhh"

Christmas Fun

We had a wonderful Christmas. The boys got tons of new things which we are still trying to clean up. Josh's favorite is his Big Wheel, he calls it his motorcycle. Ryan loved and has played with everything he got. Overall it was a great day but like always very exhausting. We plan on heading to Pigeon Forge for the New Year just hoping the weather holds out so we can get there and back safely. Dave is enjoying his 11 days off work and I believe Ryan is liking not having school.

Busy Weekend 12/12 and 12/13

This weekend was very eventful and busy. I spent all day Saturday making Josh's birthday cake. Then Saturday evening, Dave and I enjoyed a nice evening at our Sunday School's Christmas party. The food was great and so was the fellowship. Sunday began with the morning at church, then home to finish cleaning and getting things ready for Josh's 3rd birthday party. Josh's party was at 3:30 and then we headed back to church to watch Ryan in the Christmas KOPS program. Josh had a great time at his party and has thoroughly enjoyed each gift. We are so proud of Ryan. He did awesome at his program. He definitely has matured a lot since last year when he just stood there! All the kids were great and its always a fun time to watch them all. Now the countdown to CHRISTmas starts. Finish shopping, do so baking, wrap presents, plus a doctors appointment for me and one for Josh. Also hoping to find out if the baby is a boy or girl the week after Christmas. Hope everyone has a very Merry CHRISTmas and remember the reason for the holiday! :) Love to you all!

Historic Train Depot

So our town offers a completely free Christmas thing for the kids at the old train depot. Dave and I took the boys and they had a great time! They got balloon animals, got to feed real reindeer, seen Santa, rode a little train, seen a huge train display, and lots of other neat things. They had so much fun and didnt want to leave.

Ryan's AWANA Grand Prix

I spent the all day Saturday in Chicago shopping with my mom and sister. We didnt buy a whole lot but we did have a lot of fun. So while mommy was gone, Daddy and the boys spent the afternoon at the AWANA Grand Prix at church. This was Ryan's first year participating and he didnt do so well but now he knows more about how the car should be shaped so he is excited for next year. They still had a fun day together. Ryan wanted his car to look like Snotrod from the Cars movie and I think him and daddy did a pretty good job at it.

We're Having a Baby

We are having a baby! Baby #3 is due May 28th, 2010! We are super excited. I really am hoping for a girl or at least one that looks like me a little, but as long as its healthy I guess I cant be too picky!! Really hoping to find out what this one is and if we do the earliest it can be done is the week of Christmas, WHAT A GREAT GIFT! We are blessed and happy to be adding to our family. The boys are starting to understand more now that they have seen ultrasound pics. Ryan says he wants a boy baby and if you ask Josh he says No baby. But Im sure once its here they will love it just like they love each other. They are really good little boys.

Fall 2009

So this fall has been kind of uneventful! Dave has had to work almost every single weekend so we havent got to do a whole lot as a family. We had one more scare with Josh and his breathing a couple weeks ago but we just did breathing treatments and gave him a steroid for a few days and he was fine. The doctors dont seem to think its anything serious just his lungs arent strong enough to have a productive cough so it just gets stuck and causes him to have trouble breathing. Please pray that he outgrows this soon! Last weekend we finally made it to Fort Wayne to visit my sister and watch Courtney play soccer! It was freezing!! And me, Stacey, and Courtney are all sick! We had our annual Fall Festival at church and the kids had a blast. We went to a bonfire for our Sunday school class and enjoyed a great time of fellowship. Trick or treat was fun. Josh wasnt scared a bit! I'm sure it helped that he had Ryan, Courtney, and Alston to follow after. They were all so cute. They got tons of candy. But other than that there hasnt been a whole lot going on. Ryan is still enjoying school and doesnt like the weekends because he cant go to school. LOL ! Ryan has also started practice for his Christmas program at church. I cant believe its almost Christmas and almost Joshie's 3rd birthday!! Where does time go?!?!?

Not much going on!

So there hasnt been much going on around the Gilbert household. Ryan is doing great in school. He is still loving it. He did get in trouble last week for kicking someone that puched him off the swing but other than that no problems. He is excited to be going on his first field trip in a couple weeks to the apple orchard. He gets smarter everyday. Josh is just rotten. He enjoys Ryan being at school I think but after he wakes up from his nap he is always asking if its time to go get Ryan from school so I think he kind of misses him. We are excited about some opportunities that we have coming up in the future. Will tell you more about those later. I am heading out to an overnight scrapbook retreat next week with Lori(my sister in law) and some good friends from church. I plan on getting a lot accomplished and having lots of fun. I went last spring with just Lori and we had a blast! Its missions emphasis month at church so we have been busy with lots of extra activities. Ryan started AWANA again and loves it! But other than that not much going on around here! Til later........ta ta! :)

Ryan got to bring home the class "pet" and was very excited!

So Josh grabbed the bear and was acting like it was his pet!! Very Cute!

Labor Day Fun

For Labor Day we went to my mom's house for a cookout. After we got done eating we decided to get out a new slip-n-slide that she had bought. They had a blast but they did get a little cold.

We also celebrated Courtney's birthday since my sister was in town. I made her cake with less than 24 hours notice. I think it turned out pretty cute but it definitely wasnt perfect. She loved it so thats what really matters!

HOME IMPROVEMENT

Dave took a vacation this week and instead of doing some relaxing we did some home improvement. Our laundry was in our garage so we decided to close off the area and make it more of a laundry room and not just part of the garage. It may sound easy to some but it involved a lot of work. In order to do this we had to move the plumbing and the kitchen door to insure that we still had enough room to park in the garage. We had no major issues, which was a blessing. We were able to get it done except a few small things ( like finishing trimming out the door panels in blue) but we built a wall, drywalled, painted -laundry room and kitchen, and put in doors. I love my new space and am so thankful that I have a husband that was willing to take on the project because if we had to pay someone to do it we never would have done it!

BEFORE PIC.......(even though we had already tore out the old drywall and ceiling tiles)

Backyard Campout

So the weekend before Ryan started school we decided we wanted to do something special with him. Not having a whole lot of money we gave him a few suggestions and he decided on camping. So we had a big family campout in our backyard. We made a fire, smores, roasted hot dogs, and just hung out in the tent. The boys both had a blast and we definitely will be camping more in the future.

Ryan's 1st day of school

So today my baby boy started school. I cant believe he is old enough to be in Kindergarten!! I think he will do great but it was still hard on mommy. I felt a little better when he turned around as he walked down the hallway with his class and gave me a huge smile and a big thumbs up!! Our lives have changed forever today! No more going whenever we want, now we are on a school schedule!! I'm sure it will get easier but today its not!!

A big UH-OH!!

Well today has been an eventful day! Josh found some fingernail polish and decided he was going to paint the house! And I know it was him because he was got "pink"-handed!! I had fingernail polish on the carpet, the rug, the couch, his clothes, and him! What a mess!! I got most of it cleaned up but I think the rug and clothes are just going to go in the trash!

Family Fun Weekend

This weekend we finally got to spend some time together just as family. Dave had worked the previous 19 days! So on Saturday morning we got up and decided to take a wagon ride. The boys love to ride in their wagon. We decided we would walk to Ryan's new school which he will be starting on Aug. 18th. I can't believe he is old enough already to go to Kindergarten!! We walked to his school and let them play on the playground for awhile. We also took a little snack for when they took a break from playing. After an hour or so we decided to head back home where we just hung out for the rest of the evening until we went out to dinner and did a little shopping. Sunday morning we woke up early and headed to Kings Island for Dave's company picnic. It was a cool morning and never did get too hot. Ryan had a blast riding all the rides but he needs to grow about 4 inches before next year so he can ride some of the bigger ones. Josh wasnt big enough to ride but a few rides. He liked the ones he rode except the carousel for some reason. As soon as we went around once he started screaming, "I'M DONE!!" and was trying to climb down! We all had to stop and get some BLUE ice cream! It's the best! I can not go to Kings Island without getting BLUE ice cream. We had a great day as a family! The best part is pretty much everything was free!!!

Family Pics

These are family pics that we had taken through a fundraiser. The family ones were done at our church to help the teens go to camp and the ones of the boys were done for my nephews baseball team to help them go to Chicago for the Little League World Series! I think they all turned out awesome and its a great idea for a different kind of fundraiser....much better than selling candy or something!

Dave Preaching 6/21/09

This is Dave preaching at our church,
Hillcrest Baptist Church, on Father's Day.

These are the cakes and cupcakes I made for my nephew Alston's Tiki Pool Party. I have just started trying to make and decorate cakes but I think they turned out pretty cute. All that matters is he loved them and so did all his 10 and 11 year old friends!

Beef and Boards

Went to B&B Dinner Theatre last night to see Annie! Dave, my sister, and my niece went with me. It was awesome! The food was great and the menu was full of items that I actually liked which at B&B doesnt always happen. The little girl that played Annie was incredible. She was so cute and portrayed Annie very well. The lady that played Miss Hannigan looked just like Carol Burnett from the movie! The show as great!

First Blog Update - July 3rd, 2009

So.....trying something new! Whats up with the Gilberts?!?! Well this week has been a very busy week. We have been at VBS all week. Dave and I worked with the 3rd and 4th graders. We had the highest number of kids in our class each night. The theme this year was the Boomerang Express. So Dave has been talking like an Aussie all week and we learned a lot about Australia that we never knew. VBS was kinda stressful but all in all we had a lot of fun. Ryan has spent the last 5 weeks on T/TH at an art camp run by the parks dept. He really enjoyed it and was not happy that Thursday was his last day. But now he is a little more excited about starting Kindergarten since he will get to do some of the same things at school. Josh is starting to be a real talker. He will tell you a story and can definitely let you know when he wants something or doesnt want something! They are both growing way too fast. Dave also got to preach on Father's Day at our church. He was really nervous but he did an awesome job. No one can believe he was ever shy. Just shows you what the Lord can do in someone's life! Well I guess thats it for now......til next time bye bye!!
